Oilmar DMCC Hosts Singapore Management University Students: Bridging Academic Learning and Maritime

On December 6th, Oilmar Shipping and Chartering DMCC, hosted an educational visit from Singapore Management University. This visit signifies a step towards aligning academic learning with real-world industry practices, especially in the dynamic maritime sector.

A delegation of eager students from the International Trading (ITT) and Maritime Business and Operations Track (MBOT) and faculty members from the university’s International Trading Institute (ITI@SMU) were welcomed. The focus was to provide practical insights into the complexities and nuances of the shipping and maritime industry, enriching the students’ academic knowledge with hands-on experience.

The visit included an interactive presentation covering various aspects of Oilmar company introduction, Shipping and Tanker Operations, Maritime Trading and Credit and Compliance, followed by an interactive question and answer segment and tour of the company’s offices. This not only offered students a firsthand look at the industry’s operations but also sparked discussions about future trends and challenges in maritime trade.

This collaborative effort between Oilmar and Singapore Management University underscores the importance of industry-academic partnerships in preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities in the maritime sector.
